The Church

Causapscal’s future was established at the end of the nineteenth century, with the construction of the Intercontinental Railway.

The main link with the industrial centers made the region more accessible and encouraged the booming wood industry.

Lord Mount Stephen’s fishing domain attracted members of British, American and Canadian high-society.

Later sold and renamed The Matamajaw Salmon Club, the domain is now a protected historical site.

Even today, salmon fishing is the main tourist attraction of the Matapedia valley.

During the summer there are plenty of activities to keep you busy. Visit the Historical Matamajaw Site, the magnificent church, the natural walking paths, and partake in numerous events and expositions.

The meeting of the Causapscal and Matapedia rivers is at the center of the area’s serene landscape. Surrounded by mountains, the town of Causapscal evokes the beauty of the Québec countryside.

Causapscal is unlike any town in the Matapedia valley. Every year the number of people who visit grows, providing a unique and delightful experience to all travelers.

The church sits on a hill at the center of the town. The magnificence of its architectural design is overshadowed only by the serenity of its natural location.
