Causapscal’s future was established
at the end of the nineteenth century, with the construction
of the Intercontinental Railway.
The main link with the industrial centers
made the region more accessible and encouraged the booming
wood industry.
Lord Mount Stephen’s fishing domain
attracted members of British, American and Canadian high-society.
Later sold and renamed The Matamajaw
Salmon Club, the domain is now a protected historical
site.
Even today, salmon fishing is the main tourist
attraction of the Matapedia valley.
During the summer there are plenty of activities
to keep you busy. Visit the Historical Matamajaw Site, the
magnificent church, the natural walking paths, and partake
in numerous events and expositions.
